History
The Clothes Closet and Food Pantry began in 1952 as a Girl Scout project in a Nash Rambler in the garage of local resident, Madeline Moore. Moore believed in community taking care of community. She was well known in our area as the person to turn to in time of need. Her goal was to clothe, feed, and assist those in need. Moore stated that the best advice she ever received was “To look forward to better things”. She believed that by offering clothing, food, furniture, housewares, etc. to the needy, she was offering them hope.
